1951 Alfa Romeo Type 159 Alfetta 1952 Alfa Romeo

At the end of the year 1950, an updated version of the Alfa Romeo 158 known as the Alfa Romeo Type 159 Alfetta was produced. This version has modified the rear suspension, the old swing axle was replaced with a De Dion-axle and the engine produces 420 hp (313 kW) at 9600 rpm. For his last World Championship race (until 1979), the Grand Prix of Australia 1951, Alfa Romeo has introduced a new development known as the 159m version, the "M" standing for Maggiorata ("improved").

1952 Drivers' World Championship was run to Formula Two regulations, so that the Alfa Romeo Type 159 Alfetta became obsolete.

The car's last Grand Prix win in 1953 came the Grand Prix of Merano, Italy.
